Perfect World Asia League (PAL) is a three-week tournament, with 10 of the best teams from the Asian region. Top 4 teams will get RMR points towards the next major tournament hosted by Valve. The tournament has $100 000 up for grabs and is scheduled to run from 16 September to 11 October 2020. All group stage matches are a best of three affair.
There were two qualifier events held on 11 September, which had 5 qualification sports up for grabs. The first qualification event saw the teams of HZ, Zigma and Checkmate earn a spot. The second qualifier saw the last two spots obtained by After and Bren. TYLOO will try to defend their 1st place, but they will get a lot of competition from great teams like TIGER, Invictus and ViCi. After two weeks of competition, it is no surprise that TYLOO tops the group stage leader with six wins and zero losses, followed by Invictus and ViCi with respectively one and two losses apiece.
After the three-week group stage matches have been completed, the top six teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs will be feature a double-elimination best of three format. Teams ranked first and second, will automatically gain an upper semi-final spot. The remaining four teams, will battle it out to see who advances to the upper bracket semifinals.
Whoever advances to the upper bracket semifinals and loses, will have one last opportunity in the lower bracket and consolation finals before being eliminated. The finals will be a best of five affair, with teams in the upper bracket having a 1-0 map lead. The finalists will each walk away with $25 000 (plus 2500 RMR points) and $20 000 (plus 2344 RMR points) respectively. Teams finishing third and fourth will each receive $15 000 (plus 2188 RMR points) and $12 000 (plus 2031 RMR points).
